Phobias

PHOBIAS

Are you terrified of going to the dentist? Do your palms get sweaty anytime you think of boarding an airplane? Does the sight of a spider send you into hysterics? Then you have a phobia, and your phobia is driven by anxiety, the most basic negative emotion.

A phobia is an irrational fear. That is, a fear either totally unfounded, or way out of proportion to the danger present. That you have a particular phobia does not mean you’re crazy or weird. It simply means that a particular fear became imbedded in your subconscious mind during some early frightening event in your life. And because that fear is subconscious rather than conscious, it may be totally out of proportion to reality. Your subconscious doesn’t measure fear or any emotion—it reacts according to a pattern often established in early childhood. And because the fear originates in your subconscious rather than your conscious mind, it will not be explained or eliminated by conscious reasoning. We often hear phobic clients say, “I know it doesn’t make sense(conscious), but I still feel it(subconscious.)”

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. When a phobia has a specific name, it means a significant number of people experience that same irrational fear. A few of the more common phobias are:

Does the size of this list make you feel a little better? Perhaps you’re not as strange as your family and friends think you are. All you really need to know is that your phobia originated sometime in your past, and you may have completely forgotten the originating event. But your subconscious mind didn’t forget—it was very frightened at the time.

There’s no need to carry this terrible fear with you any longer. Anxiety Relief Techniques™ harnesses the power of your subconscious mind AND your energy system. (Please see Anxiety Relief Techniques™ on our home page for explanation.) Our technique removes the phobia once and for all. And once a phobia is removed with this method, it doesn’t come back. The emotion of fear is meant to protect us, so it’s normal. Phobias, however, are not normal, and cause much harm.
